Georgia is no stranger to deadly storms. On August 27, 1893, a hurricane hit Georgia, known as the Sea Island Storm, and killed 2,000 people. The Sea Island Storm is listed as the third deadliest storm in American history. Of course, life was different in the late 1800s. Buildings were different.
